Two
problems emerge from the internet. These problems are heterogeneity and
scaling. Heterogeneity is how we can interconnect a large number of separate
networks and how to support a wide variety of applications. Scaling on the
other hand is how it is possible to support a large number of end-nodes and
applications in this interconnected network.
